As a Black woman, my breastfeeding journey was not without its challenges. From navigating cultural stigma to finding supportive resources, I faced obstacles that could have easily discouraged me.
However, I was determined to breastfeed my child, and I found support in unexpected places. I connected with other Black breastfeeding mothers, joined online communities, and sought out lactation consultants who understood my unique needs.
Through my journey, I learned the importance of:
• Community support and connection
• Cultural relevance and sensitivity
• Access to targeted resources and information
By sharing my story, I hope to inspire and empower other Black mothers to embark on their own breastfeeding journeys.
