The Impact of Mass Incarceration on Black Families and Communities

Hey, queens!

Today, I want to highlight the devastating impact of mass incarceration on Black families and communities. This systemic issue perpetuates cycles of poverty, trauma, and inequality.

Here are some alarming facts:

• Disproportionate representation: Black people are disproportionately represented in the prison population.

• Family separation and trauma: Mass incarceration tears families apart, causing lasting trauma.

• Economic impact: Incarceration perpetuates cycles of poverty, limiting economic mobility.

• Systemic racism: Mass incarceration is a symptom of systemic racism, perpetuating inequality.

We must work together to address mass incarceration and its far-reaching consequences.
