Hey Mama!
As a new mom, I thought I was prepared for anything. But nothing could have prepared me for the overwhelming sense of guilt and self-doubt that came with motherhood.
From the moment my baby was born, I felt like I was walking on eggshells. Every decision I made, every choice I took, felt like it was under a microscope. Was I doing enough? Was I doing it right?
Mom guilt is real, folks. And it's suffocating.
But here's the thing: mom guilt is not just about us. It's about societal expectations, cultural norms, and the constant bombardment of "perfect" parenting images on social media.
So, how do we overcome self-doubt as new moms? Here are a few things that have helped me:
1. Practice self-compassion: Be kind to yourself. Remember that you're doing the best you can, and that's enough.
2. Seek support: Surround yourself with people who uplift and support you. Join a mom's group, talk to your partner, or seek out a therapist.
3. Let go of perfection: Nobody is perfect, and that's okay. Your baby doesn't need a perfect mom; they need a happy, loving, and present mom.
4. Focus on the present: Don't worry about what's going to happen tomorrow or next week. Focus on the present moment, and cherish the time you have with your baby.
5. Celebrate your wins: You're doing a great job, mom! Celebrate your wins, no matter how small they may seem.
Remember, mom guilt is not a sign of weakness; it's a sign of strength. It means you care deeply about your child and want the best for them.
So, let's raise our hands and say it together: "I am enough. I am a good mom. I am doing my best."
